In a covert operation in the Purulia-Asansol border area near Saktodiya Police Phadi in Asansol, the Forest Department intercepted a car with a Bankura registration number traveling from Asansol to Purulia.
Acting on confidential information, the Forest Department discovered snake venom stored in a lead jar inside the vehicle. Subsequently, all four occupants of the car were apprehended, and authorities seized both the vehicle used for smuggling the poison and the snake venom, along with the suspects' bodies.
The Forest Department confiscated five mobile phones during the operation. The four individuals arrested with snake venom are scheduled to appear in the Asansol District Court, where authorities may seek remand to investigate the extent of their network, identifying other accomplices and determining the direction of this illicit business originating from Asansol.
